Pararcus

Name: Pararcus.
Phonetic: Pah-rah-kuss.
Named By: N. Klein & T. Scheyer - 2014.
Classification: Chordata, Reptilia, Placodontia.
Species: P. diepenbroeki (type).
Diet: Durophagovore (shellfish eater).
Size: Holotype skeleton about 135 centimetres long.
Known locations: Netherlands - Vossenveld Formation.
Time period: Anisian of the Triassic.
Fossil representation: Partial skeleton.

       Pararcus is a genus of placodont that lived in Europe during the Triassic. The placodonts are known to be specialist hunters of shellfish, and Pararcus is espected to have had a similar lifestyle.
