Name: Archaeoistiodactylus (Ancient Istiodactylus).
Phonetic: Ar-kee-o-is-tee-o-dak-tyl-us.
Named By: L� Junchang & Fucha Xiaohui - 2011.
Classification: Chordata, Reptilia, Pterosauria, Pterodactyloidea, Istiodactylidae
Species: A. linglongtaensis (type).
Diet: Piscivore.
Size: Roughly estimated at 90 centimetre wingspan.
Known locations: China, Liaoning Province - Tiaojishan Formation.
Time period: Bathonian to Oxfordian of the Jurassic.
Fossil representation: Partial skull, mandible, and post partial incomplete skeleton.

       As the name suggests, Archaeoistiodactylus is the oldest known istiodactylid pterosaur.
