Synonyms: Palaeogyrinus decorus.

Diet: Carnivore.
Size: Skull about 17 centimetres long. Body
roughly estimated to roughly be about 2 meters long.
Known locations: Scotland.
Time period: Moscovian of the Carboniferous.
Fossil representation: Partial skull.
Palaeoherpeton was originally named as Palaeogyrinus in 1926, but was renamed as Palaeoherpeton in 1970. Palaeoherpeton was a medium sized predator that would have hunted in the Carboniferous coal swamps of Scotland.
