Named By: Miller and Carranza-Castaneda‭ ‬-‭ ‬1998.
Classification: Chordata,‭ ‬Mammalia,‭ ‬Carnivora,‭ ‬Canidae.
Species: C.‭ ‬ferox.
Diet: Carnivore.
Size: Weight estimated between‭ ‬13‭ ‬and‭ ‬14‭ ‬kilograms.
Known locations: Mexico.
Time period: Mid Tortonian through to Messinian of the Miocene.
Fossil representation: Two specimens.

       Canis ferox was a species of canid that so far seems to have had a distribution restricted to Mexico at a time when Canis lepophagus roamed the United States.‭ ‬Canis ferox probably lived like wolves and coyotes do today.
